First Official Photographs of Sam Heughan As Jamie Fraser!

Starz have released this photograph of the delectable actor Sam Heughan in full Jamie costume! The first thing that springs to my mind is that he looks scruffy! I'm actually really pleased with that because it shows that we are going to be seeing something which is realistic and not a cookie cutter show but a nitty gritty show which reflects the books. The second thing I noticed is that he looked really annoyed with someone and I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that expression.  I'm wondering at what point in the story this scene takes place as he seems to be at Lallybroch in the fields.

Grant O'Rouke cast as Rupert (Unconfirmed)

Although nothing has been confirmed by Starz about Grant O'Rouke being cast in the role of Rupert I think it's safe to say that it's true!  Firstly Graham McTavish made a comment on Twitter (which was subsequently deleted) about how he was enjoying working with Grant O'Rouke amongst others and secondly a fan made an image public of herself alongside Graham McTavish right in front of a board with the photographs of all the cast members. Under the image of Grant O'Rouke was apparently the name Rupert!

I think Graham McTavish will probably not be in the good books of Starz this week!

Anyhow Grant isn't a well known actor but has been in a handful of well known shows according to his imdb page. He's Scottish so that's an advantage and I can already see him asking Jamie if he bled!

Sam Heughan with ginger hair!

Outlander star Sam Heughan has unveiled his ginger locks for the first time. We have previously seen him with a rather fetching beenie hat on but here he is with his Jamie hair!  If anyone would like to add a caption please feel free because I'm a little too over excited right now!

Confirmed Casting of James Fleet as the Rev. Wakefield

I love James Fleet! I think he's an excellent actor who is going to be fantastic at playing the slightly befuddled and academic Rev. Wakefield in Outlander! I'm actually surprised that his name has never cropped up in the multitude of casting speculations which have been flying around over the last few years.

I think the casting crew have really done a brilliant job and I can almost see James in the role of Rev. Wakefield without any problems at all!

Laura Donnelly Cast As Jenny Murray

Although it has yet to be confirmed the Merlin actress Laura Donnelly has been cast to play Jamie's sister, Jenny Murray.  Laura is another Irish actress and although she has been in several TV programs personally I remember her from playing Merlin's love interest in the BBC production.  She is a very attractive woman and has an air of innocence about her but at the same time seems very stubborn! The picture below of Laura may not be the most flattering but I can just see her about to strike at her little brother's privates for insulting her!

Lotte Verbeek Cast As Gellis Duncan

Since filming began we seem to have forgotten that many of the Outlander characters hadn't been announced yet but low and behold within moments of me asking @Outlander_Starz to get their finger out the rumour mill goes into overdrive.   I'm happy to announce (although it has little to do with me) that actress Lotte Verbeek has been chosen to play the bat shit crazy witch Gellis Duncan!

Filming Outlander Has Begun!

It seems very surreal that in Cumbernauld the world we have previously only seen in our own imagination is beginning to take shape and be crafted into a living breathing entity.  Today the filming of the Outlander TV series has begun.  Today the official @Outlander_Starz twitter account showed this message along with a photograph of executive producer Ron Moore holding a very fetching sword.  I've said right from the beginning that Ron has the right look about him to play Rupert if they roughed him up a bit!
