Outlander TV Series Casting Company and Official Twitter Page

We here nothing for months but now the momentum of the new Outlander TV Series seems to be snowballing! Hopefully it won't be too long until confirmation of casting choices starts to trickle through.

Firstly a casting company has already been chosen and according to this blog! and it's surprisingly an Irish casting company run by a lady called Gillian Reynolds. It's a tad worrying that they are looking at Irish actors to play the main role of Jamie Fraser but I guess they know what they are doing ... I hope they do anyway.  The Gillian Reynolds Casting company were responsible for finding and providing actors for "Camelot" as well as working with some big names actors such as Colin Farrel and Cillian Murphy.  It's exciting news and it's even possible that they already have an actor to play Jamie as auditions took place on the 5th June.

It has been announced today that a new Twitter account has been created to keep track of news of the TV series and it's Outlander_Starz hopefully they'll be adding new information as soon as it's released!

Outlander TV Series to begin filming this Autumn

It has been officially announced ... by Diana no less ... that she has signed the contract for the TV series and filming will be starting in September with a view to seeing it on your TV screens by the Spring of 2014!  The series is going to be sixteen episodes long but as of yet the casting choices are being kept under wraps. I'm assuming that they already have the main characters cast in the roles but honestly I really wish they would put us out of our misery!

This is the news I have been waiting for for such a long time and guess what? I'm suddenly really really scared in case it's terrible and I hate it.  The filming is starting this Autumn in Scotland which is really really exciting and if my kids weren't of school age I would be applying to be an extra!

Outlander TV Series Writers Confirmed!

It's now a while since the news that Outlander was being taken on by Ron Moore and the Starz network and in that time any genuine news has been a little thin on the ground. Now we all know how much we are eagerly waiting casting news but sadly we are going to have to wait a little longer.

What I can tell you however is that the writers of the TV series have been announced and so things are certainly progressing.  To be honest I don't really pay much attention to the writers of TV shows so I can't say I've ever heard of these writers. Therefore I've done a little research on them ...

Toni Graphia - Although he is more popularly known for his work on Battlestar Galactica I've taken a look at his resume and he was a co-producer on Dr Quinn medical women which does give me a little more confidence! He has also worked on many other fantastic shows such as Roswell, Grey's Anatomy and Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Matthew Roberts
- Information on this writer is thin on the ground but has has worked on Caprica and a TV show called Hellcats. There is a book author with the same name although I'm not sure if it's the same person or just a weird coincidence.

Ira Behr - A writer who is credited with working on Alphas and Crash (I've never heard of them!) and this left me a little worried but after a little research I'm far happier! Ira Behr worked as  producer on Dark Angel, Deep Space Nine and The Next Generation.

Anne Kenney - Again there is a lack of historical work which is disappointing.  Anne Kenney has worked on L.A. Law,  Greek, Beautiful People and The Big Easy.

One of my concerns for this project is that many of the writers seem to have a strong background in Sci-fi rather than on historical shows so the fact that Toni Graphia has produced historical work makes me more optimistic. My conclusion is that the Outlander TV series will have a lot of VERY experienced and talented writers involved but I can't help but be a little scared that it will be a little heavy on the sci-fi parts of the story rather highlighting the gritty realism of the 18th century.  I just hope they have a lot of historical experts to iron out any problems!

Pre-order Written In My Own Heart's Blood

In theory this should be an amazing post but given the fact that Diana hasn't even finished writing the latest Outlander book I guess Amazon is being a little over enthusiastic with giving a release date of 10th December 2013.  If it's ready by then that's excellent but it's unlikely as it's been claimed that Amazon pull these things out of mid air!  We won't know the actual release date until it's officially announced.

However Amazon do seem to be taking pre-orders for
Written in My Own Heart's Bloodso I for one am getting more and more excited about the prospect of getting my hands on a copy ... or more likely getting it downloaded onto my Kindle! What does strike me as great though is the artwork on the cover. It's simple and straightforward but really effective at the same time.  I love it!

Casting of Jamie Fraser is confirmed by STARZ!

At Last!!!!
There are so many of us who have been eagerly awaiting the news of exactly who will play out favorite Scots Highlander in the upcoming TV series of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander and I'm happy to say that today it's finally being announced and I couldn't be happier!!!! I had an awful feeling that the casting would go to someone who was only considered because of his fame and not because of his ability to encompass the spirit which is James Alexander Malcolm McKenzie Fraser! However looking at the Google images of this actor I can really see him being able to act like Jamie as well as being tall and what's more he's actually Scottish! So here he is ... meet the new Jamie Fraser ....
.... oh who am I kidding ... Happy April 1st ... please don't hate me I couldn't resist!
