Laura Donnelly Cast As Jenny Murray

Although it has yet to be confirmed the Merlin actress Laura Donnelly has been cast to play Jamie's sister, Jenny Murray.  Laura is another Irish actress and although she has been in several TV programs personally I remember her from playing Merlin's love interest in the BBC production.  She is a very attractive woman and has an air of innocence about her but at the same time seems very stubborn! The picture below of Laura may not be the most flattering but I can just see her about to strike at her little brother's privates for insulting her!

Lotte Verbeek Cast As Gellis Duncan

Since filming began we seem to have forgotten that many of the Outlander characters hadn't been announced yet but low and behold within moments of me asking @Outlander_Starz to get their finger out the rumour mill goes into overdrive.   I'm happy to announce (although it has little to do with me) that actress Lotte Verbeek has been chosen to play the bat shit crazy witch Gellis Duncan!

Filming Outlander Has Begun!

It seems very surreal that in Cumbernauld the world we have previously only seen in our own imagination is beginning to take shape and be crafted into a living breathing entity.  Today the filming of the Outlander TV series has begun.  Today the official @Outlander_Starz twitter account showed this message along with a photograph of executive producer Ron Moore holding a very fetching sword.  I've said right from the beginning that Ron has the right look about him to play Rupert if they roughed him up a bit!

Jesus H Roosevelt Christ? She'll do fine!

And the winner is ... Caitriona Balfe!

I'm sure you'll agree that actress Caitriona Balfe is beautiful and I'm sure you'll agree that she is going to make an amazing Claire Beauchamp in the upcoming Outlander TV series.  It seems as if we have been waiting for decades (well some of us probably have) to see an incarnation of our favourite herione on the screen and I just LOVE what I'm seeing so far.

When Diana Gabaldon broke the news she said

"Hard to believe lightning can strike twice, but it surely did. The moment Caitriona Balfe came on screen, I sat up straight and said, ‘There she is!’ She and Sam Heughan absolutely lit up the screen with fireworks."

If that isn't a good enough testament to her suitability for the role then I don't know what is.  So far we know relatively little about Caitriona except that she's Irish and has starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. She's almost 34 and although she isn't a household name it won't be long before she is!
